Day 6 - Hervey Bay to Goomeri to Dalby (full post)!!

The boys woke up to a gloomy day in Hervey Bay - they drove Booger Mobile to the breakfast location - Wetside Water Park, but at the same time they arrived, the breeze also arrived, so there would be no swimming!!

Team 808 was also there in their shiny and washed Commodore Wagon... the day wouldn't end that way - details are in this post here:  http://boogermobile.blogspot.com/2010/10/day-6-hervey-bay-to-goomeri-to-dalby.html

There was a whale leaping from the pool/wet area...

And one out in the middle of the roundabout also!!

Booger Mobile was parked beside the Ambo car...

So Damian thought a self portrait with the Ambo's Norm and Wayne would be the way to go!!

Reg and Diane turned up in OKA, so the boys presented Reg with his very own (limited edition) Team Booger Mobile hat, and a carton of VB, to show their appreciation for his assistance on Wednesday.

There was a sculpture of a dolphin on the footpath...

And Damian was clearly in a self-portrait mood, as he captured the moment with the Princesses as they drove in...

The whale was excited when the water began to flow!!

And a giant bucket tipped water onto noone...  in summer you can imagine the giggles and squeeling of the kids as they wait for the bucket to drench them with water!!

Damian took a photo of a bunch of people taking a photo of a bunch of people of which Damian was one.

Another self-portrait, Damian with the puppeteers Shelley and Zoe...  aka Kelly and Chloe!!

Two of the Princesses showed up ready for an impending flood...

And these are his actual teeth...  alright, perhaps not!

Quite a nice spot - there were plenty of comments about bringing the family back here...

Lozza (one of the Nuns) played with a giant sphere of water...

While Scottie had a shower...  really they were like the cone of silence, with little speakers that told you information when you pressed the button!!

Joanne painted Scottie's nails (Damian's had already been done)!

And the boys made a special friend - Bailey - who was a student at Pialba State School (where the boys had taken Booger Mobile onWednesday).  Bailey had stayed up all night doing some special drawings for the boys...

The top one is Booger Mobile with people with boogers... mmmmmmmmmm delicious!!  The bottom left is Damian, and the bottom right is Scottie.

The boys were so happy that they gave Bailey his very own Team Booger Mobile hat, and let him sit in the driver's seat...  Not sure if Bailey slept Thursday night - he was pretty excited!!

Due to the debacle with Booger Mobile's sub-frame, the boys were doing school visits and bitumen for the remainder of esCarpade.  First up was the Sandy Straits Primary School.  Damian used a little image magic to flip this image so the stickers read correctly...

The cars lined up and filed onto the oval...

There were plenty of cars, and plenty of kids!!

Fred and Barney made an exciting entrance with smoke billowing... the kids were so excited, until...

They disappeared in the smoke!!

The esCarpadians started throwing lollies etc and the kids went wild!!

Meanwhile, Scottie was picking boogers and chasing kids around!

The puppets worked their magic, and the esCarpadians did another rendition of Juicy Juicy Green Grass!!

At the second school (Kawungun Primary School), Damian posed for a self portrait with Mike, the esCarpade's chief PR dude and blog poster...

More kids, more stickers being stuck to random people...  Team 1100 were sticking stickers like there was no tomorrow!!

Scottie and Damian compared their nail colours... Scottie had one coat and Damian had two!

Time to head from Hervey Bay to Goomeri...  Scottie left Damian to his own devices (the GPS) and took the opportunity to catch up on some sleep...

Damian remained a picture of concentration!!

Down more tree-lined roads...

Across a single lane bridge...

Through Kilkivan...

Following the signs to Goomeri...

Where the boys finally arrived!!

Heading onto the Goomeri School oval, the boys stopped and checked the bolts were tight from the work Reg did (as recommended).

Damian got a call from Tony to come and take some pictures.  Figuring that there must have been a debacle, Damian headed over and found that the Commodore had been damaged in a crash.  Check out the blog here to read about it:  http://boogermobile.blogspot.com/2010/10/day-6-hervey-bay-to-goomeri-to-dalby.html
There were cars everywhere...

These clowns were sitting around like a bunch of crows on a fence!!

The puppets did their show again...

Later in the day, the boys headed towards Dalby...

They started on the road behind OKA...

Damian compared his nail colour to the colour of Booger Mobile - pretty darn close!!

Once it was safe to pass OKA, the boys hit the open road, passing a dam...

More tree lined streets...

Ate some snakes...

Clowned around a bit...

Drove down some long, straight roads...

Heading towards Dalby still...

Through Kumbia...

Past the Bunya Mountains...

Through a cutting...

Along another very straight, very long road...

Into the town of Bell.

The clowns swung by to say g'day...

While Booger Mobile looked resplendant as always!!

Good number on the back there - the boys wish everyone had 200mm letters on the rear window!!

This old house in Bell looked like it had been there for a hundred years...  Of course, it may just be neglected and run down!!

Past fields of crops, with wonky telephone poles...

Past a nice windmill...

Finally, Dalby came into view...

The boys parked at check-in for a quick g'day and cabanossi stop!!

Heading to their motel, the boys settled in, while other entrants rolled in.

Good shot there...

And from the other side...

Damian had a shower and washed his hair for the first time since having it coloured...  The colour is sure fading fast!!

It still looks bright green on top though!!

At the Dalby RSL for dinner, Julio from Team 808 won the Turkey of the Day award, not so much for smashing Tony's Commodore, but for his heavily accented retelling of the story...

People ate, drank and were merry.

While Tony posed with Damian for a self portrait.

Heading back to the motel, Damian snapped a photo of Booger Mobile between two other esCarpade cars.

As a special treat, here is some footage of another esCarpade entrant - appropriately entitled "How not to approach a water crossing".

That's it for now... sorry about the delay - Damian blames blogspot!!
