Wiring, more wiring, and getting ready for a car show!!

This blog post begins way back on the 22nd of March 2013.  It was time for Damian to get cracking and install the green flashing lights, then get the wiring under control...

Step one - make some custom backing plates for the green lights...

They are going to go on the front grill of Booger Mobile...

Damian carefully uses the tin-snips, while taking an auto-timed photo of himself... clever eh?

Filing...

And it wouldn't be a blog post if there wasn't something painted black!!

One bracket in place... looks good!!

And through the magic of the interwebs, both green flashing lights are installed!!

Damian also decided to remove the sundry stickers that each year get plastered onto cars by other teams...  This team used a non-automotive sticker, making it a nasty job to remove...  Damian pleaded with teams to use proper stickers in future!!

Time to unwrap some wires...

Tada!!

It's amazing what you find... Damian found this semi-dried and rather unappealing (pun intended) banana under the front seat of Booger Mobile!!  He doesn't remember even having bananas in there!!

This large green tree frog has mistaken Team Booger Mobile HQ for a tree...  Still, the mystery over the strange noises has been solved!!

Fast forward to the 29th of March, and the wiring under the bonnet resembles a spaghetti factory!!

All this neatly wrapped wire needs to be removed...

And under here somewhere is where all the magic happens!!

This is the pile of wire removed from under the dash and up to the lights that have been removed.

Damian installed a new, brighter white LED rear safety light...  This one could blind a camel at 1000 paces... Should be perfect!!

Of course, all those new wires need to be wrapped and fed back into the car...

Nice wrapping!!

But alas, the mess has simply moved to under the bonnet!!

Jumping forward to April 12, Damian stopped to admire the mighty Kumho R800 rally tyres... still going strong!!

The wiring under the bonnet was completed...

Moving the mess to inside the cabin!!

Now on April 13, Damian decided to have a bit of a break from wiring and sort out the driver's side wheel bearing, that just needed to be nipped up a little...

All done!!

And the wiring was completed, with a new secret switch making its way into the mix...

And finally the date of this blog post, April 14!!  Time to give Booger Mobile a good wash in preparation for the Caboolture Custom Vehicle Spectacular, on Saturday 20 April at the Farm Fantastic site, 530 Pumicestone Road Caboolture.  Booger Mobile is the guest of honour, so pop by and check it out!!

Seems Booger Mobile can still drive... (this is the furthest it has been driven in MONTHS!!)

Angle parking...  Looking decidedly un-shiny!!

And after a wash - back in the shed gleaming!!

Damian's son Aidan came up to give him a hand with the chamois work...

Looking the goods now!!

Time to remove some more stickers...  Driver's side door is now available for sponsors in 2013...

As is the passenger side door...

And the passenger side rear door!!

Down on the rear quarter panel...

On both sides of course!!

Windows polished, ready to shine... (again, pun intended!)

Damian noticed the DELUXE badges looked a little sad...

Never fear, Sharpie to the rescue!!

Tada!!

Better do the passenger side too...

Woot!!

So the outside looks spectacular... the inside, however, still resembles a spaghetti factory!!  It's likely to be a long week!!

Stay tuned for further blog posts this week as Damian gets Booger Mobile ready for it's first car show for 2013...  The Caboolture Custom Vehicle Spectacular!!
