Finishing off the Engine Bay...

First cab off the rank today was for Damian to go and pay for the engine reconditioning...  (Note for potential sponsors - now is a great time to send money!!)

The bits and pieces have all been cleaned, ground, shaved, grooved, balanced and whatever else it is that they do with engine bits to make them better...  Here's the engine block with nicely bored out cylinders ready for the oversized flat-top pistons...

Here's a box of goodies that need to be assembled with the engine...

The head, looking remarkably similar to how it looked back in August last year...

The crankshaft, all fresh and ready to roll...

Dave was going to take home all the bits and pieces and reassemble the engine.  Damian had a mission to achieve - to locate a spare bit on one of the old engine blocks to replace the one that was broken on the block that is being rebuilt... it was the thrust cover or something similar...

So here's the old block...

After much undoing, bashing and the use of a crowbar, the crank was removed, revealing the thrust cover.

And there it is...  The old one had a broken end where the bolt hole is.

Time to get the engine bay finished, so that (hopefully) on Sunday the boys will be able to get the engine reinstalled...

First up - prime the area that Kerry had welded...

While waiting for the primer to dry, the header wrapping was completed...

Looks pretty snazzy, doesn't it?

The "barbados green" touch up spray-paint matched a treat...

There were a few scratches on this side too...  In for a penny, in for a pound!!

Voila!!

So Damian dropped a new water pump, the thrust cover, the camshaft and a couple of tins of blue engine paint to Dave, who is going to assemble the engine in the coming days...

The next photos of the engine should have it back together and all blue!!
