At the driver's briefing, Ben told everyone about a bog hole that had appeared shortly into the morning course.
It was squishy, black mud, which some people got stuck in... but not Booger Mobile!!
Lots of dirt roads in the morning session...
Scottie was making himself comfortable as the morning session navigator...
Several shallow causeways were also located...
Most of them posed no real danger...
This causeway was a little deeper, and the water was quite fast flowing...
Here's a shot from inside the cabin...
And one from behind thanks to the Clowns.
After crossing the causeway, Scottie complained that his thongs were floating away. Thinking he was joking, Damian looked across to see a couple of inches of water in the bottom of the passenger side.
Stopping quickly and grabbing an old towel from the boot, the boys soaked up the water as best they could.
Gav and the nuns in 707 stopped to laugh at the boys and their predicament (after first making sure that everyone was alright and no assistance was required).
There was also a low bridge - 2.3m high. Booger Mobile is somewhere around 2.2m high!
After the tunnel was a rail crossing - sadly a goods train was passing, hence the number of esCarpade cars lined up!!
The boys continued to wind their way up the range, passing the Perseverence Dam wall on the way!
This shot was pointing the camera backwards and pressing the button... turned out pretty good!
After lunch, the boys checked the important stuff before heading out for the afternono session.
This artistic photo really shows how dirty Booger mobile is.
The engine bay still looks the same, only somewhat dustier.
Gratuitous shot of the Kumho R700 rally tyres showing the mud thrown up...
Tony and the crew managed to get their car back on the road.'
Julio was in the front seat working on a bit of wiring maintenance...
And from the front...
And of course, every post needs a self portrait...
Heading out after lunch, the boys fueled up and headed into the forest again...
The lunch time driver's briefing indicated that there was a long, deep creek crossing on the course...
In the mean time, the view was spectacular!!
From rain and sleet the first day to dry, dusty roads now... That's what makes it such an adventure...
This one was quite deep, but wasn't the deep one being referred to...
Booger Mobile looked the goods out in the bush...
There were a heap of cars lined up waiting to cross the deep creek crossing...
The track was also getting more and more chewed up as each car made it through - occasionally under their own steam, usually snatched, a couple completely drowned!!
This is the flowing causeway/river crossing...
It was nearly Booger Mobile's turn!!
Booger Mobile made it through the river, up the hill, almost back onto the track, when it suddenly ceased forward movement. It required to be snatched about 3 feet or so, then it continued along it's way.
Booger Mobile has been surprising the boys and a lot of other people with how well it has been going!!
Once cleared of that one, the boys came across another one, luckily it wasn't that difficult.
By the time the boys had made it through the creek crossing, it was after 4pm. The boys (along with most other vehicles) abandoned the rest of the afternoon course and headed towards Mooloolaba on the bitumen.
They passed through Moore, which is where some of Damian's relatives on his mother's side come from.

Heading through Kilcoy...
Past the mountains...
Not forgetting the Glasshouse Mountains...
Damian's wife and kids came up to wave to Booger Mobile as it went past... here are some shots that Tricia took...

On the bright sunny morning booger did fly down the dirt roads and thru the yucky black mud with out any worries
ReplyDeleteWith Scottie in the navigator seat and Damian driving,it was after Damian went thru the water, that Scottie said his feet were getting wet,and his thongs had floated away,as the water had come thru Booger floorDamian wasn t the only one to have a giggle as he stoped so Scottie could mop up water with an old towel, well done Scottie.(he he)
After lunch and a debriefing on a problem area ahead, the boys headed off and only had a slight problem with the area crossing where other had failed the Booger did not let them down, well not really.
As they drove thru the beautiful country side,
Damian excitement did grow as they would soon be driving pass the point where Tricia and the boys would be waiting to wave as the Booger Mobile passed (slowly of course) by,and what great picture Tricia took perfect for the blog, thanks Tricia.
Another fantastic day was had by all,and what a great way to finish the day with a visit to underwater world, where a very tall volunteer was needed and of course we all know how tall Damian is,and he quickly put his hand up for the task.Well done Damnian that was one very happy seal.
