Day 7 - the final full day of esCarpade. The boys woke in Dalby and headed to the Dalby Historical Museum for breakfast, where they found a potential new vehicle for next year!!
The spread was nice - bacon and egg burgers, fresh fruit, coffee and juice.
Trevor (the photographer) was trying to offload some random photos from the event - made for an interesting photo montage instead!!
Driver briefing wasn't that exciting for the boys - they would be doing school visits again!
The first school (Our Lady of the Southern Cross College) had lots of excited kids running around!!
Booger Mobile was looking the goods still...
There were plenty of cars to see...
The High Rollers (yes, that is a Rolls Royce) had their bubble machine in full swing...
Artistic shot of bubbles floating past...
Team 808's Commodore hadn't magically fixed itself as far as the dent goes, but they had got a new tyre, rim and panhard rod...
More excited kids!!
Inside the classroom the puppet show went off!! Fred was there throwing lollies, and when things were quietening down, Damian got the kids to do some Mexican waves - first front to back, then side to side...
Going back to the car, the boys found that it was very hot inside... doors and windows open!!
The second school for the morning was Dalby Primary School.
The boys opened the doors and cranked the stereo...
Scottie was just hanging around, waiting for the kids to come out!!
Then he was hanging with the clowns!!
Deano and Kylie (the puppets) spoke to the kids about cancer...
After that, it was time to follow the GPS to Inglewood.
Great (accidental) shot of Giggle looking out the window at the old bridge...
Dips on this main road!!
An emu was standing on the side of the road - thankfully it ran into the bush rather than onto the road!!
This was an interesting water reservoir...
The GPS lead the boys astray slightly - they had it set to avoid unsealed roads, and it took them about 30km further than required... still, the boys got to see Leyburn!!
Another nice shot of bent poles...
Another of our top quality highways...
Sign says Inglewood... must be getting close!!
The third school visit for the day was Inglewood Primary School...
The puppets were awesome as per usual!!
And the kids had spent a great deal of time on their banners and colouring in...
After lunch, it was time for Damian to take the wheel, and drive the 90km to Goondiwindi... passing through Yelarbon first...
See, told you it was Yelarbon!!
Anothe long, straight road...
And into Goondiwindi at last!!
Tonight was the final night and awards ceremony - the theme was Paint the Town Red! Damian got into his top hat and bow tie...
The boys were impressed that their green nails actually glowed under black light...
Tony and the Team 808 crew were having a good time...
Team Booger Mobile won best novice entry (newbie award).
After dinner, the band was playing and so it was time for some dancing!!
During the night, Damian was asked what the chances of shaving his hair off were... He replied that if they raised over $1000 he would let them shave his head... They raised $1400 - which will go towards Team Booger Mobile's fundraising total for 2011.
Time to get started!!
Before shot...
Cutting off the pony tail...
Almost gone!!
Gone!!
Damian's pony tail had lost so much colour, it looked blonde!!
Damian hamming it up for the cameras...
How many people want to have a turn?
The crowd gathered to watch...
Time for yet another hairdresser to have a go!!
Shaving started...
Still hacking at it to get ready to shave...
The pile of hair continued to grow!!
Starting to take shape now!!
how does it feel?
The crowd swells again!!
Starting to get shaved nicely now...
Damian holding his drink with a straw in it, so he could have a drink while looking down...
Hair, hair, everywhere!!
Nearly done...
And the excitement builds!!
Finished!! The congratulations flowed...
And the after shot!!
All the hair... Damian collected it up for posterity!!
Scottie partying on down with another esCarpadian!!
Self portrait...
Damian self portrait with one of the High Rollers...
The band rocked out some awesome tunes!!
And finally, Candace's dress was providing a canvas for the laser lights...
That's it for tonight's blog post... tomorrow (well, today atually) the boys will be leaving esCarpade for 2010 - time for a rest, then think about what might happen next year...
