2011 Corvettes on the Coast

Damian was up bright and early ready to head to the Qld Corvette Club's annual show'n'shine event, Corvettes on the Coast.  He had previously attached Booger's head onto Booger Mobile - here it is ready to hit the road bright and early!!

Damian managed to get Booger Mobile started with a minimum of fuss - was this to be a sign of things to come???

Heading out into the early morning darkness, Damian was surprised to find a few other cars on the road...

The highway was pretty empty though!!

Past the new speed camera on the Gateway Motorway (southbound at Nudgee)...

And along the new Gateway...

This photo has a couple of interesting things - first of all, a nice reflection of Booger's head, and secondly, a couple of hot air balloons!!

And up the Gateway Bridge!!  There was a little bit of minor pinging, so Damian made a mental note to adjust the timing before the trip home...

And down the other side!!

Damian beeped and waved to Penny as he went past this sign...

And continued on his way to the Gold Coast...

Just how far away is this place???

Passing Dreamworld, Damian thought of all the fun times at camp he's had there...

Tired Damian snapping a snappy self portrait!

Onto the Smith Street connection, with the Gold Coast highrises in the background...

Well, there are a lot of Corvettes, so this must be the place!!

Damian was allocated a nice parking spot on the hill, where he set up the Camp Quality signs and put out the Booger Mobile information board...

Another shot...

Looking back towards the car show...

The crowd started to file in...

The Camp Quality signage went up on the sausage sizzle tent, with volunteers Marie and Quintin (being his usual quiet self) manning the table...  Gayle and Chris were also there, and Damian chipped in when it was busy also!!

Booger Mobile was so popular, people even went up in a sea-plane to get a better look!!  (Well, maybe they were doing something else, but whatever!!)

This Corvette was Booger Mobile's favourite... can you work out why?  (For Paul's benefit - it's a 1964 model according to its number plate!)

The trophies were all lined up... they are little spark plugs... well, huge spark plugs actually!!

The clouds started to roll in, while Booger Mobile stood sentry at the entry!!

The crowd gathered for the handing out of the trophies...

This trophy was so big, the club president was able to jump in it!!

The trophy presentation continued...

The skies turned grey, and the entrants looked worried!!

They needn't have been though - the weather stayed fine.  Damian took the opportunity to adjust the timing again (when travelling with a new engine, always have a timing light handy!!) then headed up the highway... much more traffic heading home!!

Funny thing though - before hitting the highway, Damian was stuck idling in the traffic waiting to exit the park... he made it past the crowds lining the walkway where the exit was, and lined up at the traffic lights...  Waiting... waiting... waiting... the lights went green, and Booger Mobile stalled...  Damian started it again, stalled... much to the amusement of the Corvette behind him!!  Third time lucky, Damian started Booger Mobile and headed out... fingers crossed he would get to the open road, which he did without further issue!!

Heading up the Gateway, past the "art" between the two bridges...

And climbing!!  No pinging this time... thank goodness!!

Still climbing...

And down the other side!!

After an uneventful trip the rest of the way, Booger Mobile was safely back in Damian's shed, where it was time to remove his head (since it had to go to the carby shop on Wednesday).  Tricia came up to take pics for Damian...  First, undo the butterfly nuts...  who knew it took so much concentration!!

Done... and off with the back half of the head...

To reveal...

Some wires, and the spare fuel holder...

The front still looks normal though!!  But not for long!!

Off with the safety-screws...

Go go gadget arms!!

There it is!!

And what better way to finish, than with a couple of snappy shots of Booger Mobile!!

And a nice grill shot!!

And Damian should mention Kerbside Car Sound, whose awesome stereo continues to turn heads!!

So, that was the 2011 Qld Corvette Club car show...  thanks to all who attended and bought a sausage sizzle or made a donation to Camp Quality - let's do it all again next year!!

  1. A EXCITING DAY FOR THE AWESOME DAMIAN AN THE FANTASTIC BOOGER MOBILE.
Even before the sun has risen Damian was up and about, ready to start the long journey,to the Corvette Club Car show.
Would the Booger Mobile start, yes Booger did,as if she knew how important the day was going to be.
The drive was long but not boring as there were many exciting thing to see along the way,and thanks to Damian's clever snap shots it was as if we all were in the Mighty Booger Mobile seeing all there was to see along the way.
Booger Mobile had the perfect parking spot, where it stood out amongst the beautiful Corvettes, but none as fantastic as the Booger Mobile.
The Camp Quality sausage sizzle was quite a hit with people lining up to get their fill and Damian did his bit by helping to serve the sausages to the hungry crowd.
When the Day came to an end Damian and Booger set off for the long drive back to Booger Mobile HQ, with a trouble free drive home to Damian's relief.
But the Day is not over for Damian as he must once again remove the Booger head in preparation to take the Booger to have the carby worked on, to try and finally solve the on going problems with the starting sagas.
What a fantastic day it was and with all the great picture for all to see and enjoy.
Many Thanks Damian and Booger for sharing it with us.
The Camp Quality esCarpade is less than eight weeks away and the Booger is looking amazing, all ready to have an exciting adventure with Damian and Jason.
Well done Damian you are "AWESOME" DOING IT FOR THE KIDS
