Queensland pre-scrutineering had arrived for 2016, and this year was being held in Gympie. Damian was up bright and early on a chilly Sunday morning...
Booger Mobile was well rested and looking resplendent!
Gratuitous flashing light shot outside the shed...
And the other side...
Stumbled into accuracy with opposite green and amber strobes visible!!
Ready to head out the front gate... It was actually a bit darker than the camera makes it look - the sun was yet to come up...
Nice morning sunrise...
Heading north on the highway, doing 107km/hr passing the start of the northbound point-to-point camera (it's a 110 zone).
Nice day to be heading up the highway - not too much traffic!!
This is the grin that Damian had having just waved to a pair of highway patrol cars that cruised past about 100m apart...
Good looking sunrise, still!!
And doing 103/104 km/hr at the end of the northbound point to point... Damian thinks he's pretty safe from a speeding ticket there!!
Sign says that Damian is still heading in the right direction!!
Past the former Ettamogah Pub... now it has no name...
Nothing behind Booger Mobile either!!
Woot!! An overtaking opportunity...
And a nice X-falcon V8 whizzing past Booger Mobile (having just come on at the BP Forest Glen)... Damian thinks it was an XB, but isn't confident enough to put money on it... Any guesses?
Oh look, a bend in the road!!
And some more cars...
The roadworks section, where for some unkown reason, the cars in front decided that even though the sign said 70, they would throw out the anchors and drop from 100 to 20, nearly causing carnage...
Still heading the right way...
Oh lookie... the new road is open!!
Nice new 110 km/hr road!!
Past the Matilda (giant kangaroo) from the '82 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane...
Past some hotrods in Gympie...
Gympie!!
Better turn right - that's where the GPS told Damian to go!!
Spencey's Auto Repairs... again making their workshop available for scrutineering...
Booger Mobile adding a touch of class in the morning light...
Michael making some fine-adjustments to Sharkmobile 3...
Booger Mobile up on the hoist, with Gordon checking it over...
Even looks good from this angle!!
Up, up and away!! Damian had two items to rectify from pre-scrutineering... the first was the idler arm bush, however since Damian replaced it last year with a you-beaut one that is metal and ball bearings and heavy duty, it simply needed a slight adjustment, which was done while Booger Mobile was up on the hoist... one item done!!
The second item was to replace the pinion seal on the diff - it was weeping slightly... That job will have to wait for another time!!
Queensland cars at Spencey's...
Booger Mobile continues to be both the oldest and the shiniest!!
esCarpadians lining up to hear Ben give his driver's briefing for the Experience esCarpade drive...
Damian and Tony weren't paying attention, as neither of them were going on the drive!!
Purple People Eater and Booger Mobile lined up at the shops ready for Damian and Tony to have coffee... note the caravan photo-bombing in the background!!
After coffee, it was time to head back towards Brisbane...
Tony decided to accompany Damian...
Heading the right way...
Back down the nice new highway...
Another speed camera, another speed of 104 km/hr (in a 110 zone again).
Back past the pub with no name...
Arriving at the starting point of the new southbound point-to-point cameras...
Mt Tibrogargan in the background...
Nearly home...
And the end point of the southbound point-to-point cameras... Speed 103 km/hr... Consistency!!
Coming onto the highway was a nice old army truck (or similar) towing another oldie behind it!!
Time to take the exit and say good bye to Tony...
And home... as always, protected by the Booger Angel!!
Seems this picture was taken already...
So Booger Mobile has been scrutineered, and passed with one minor item to be rectified before esCarpade!! That's why teams take their cars to pre-scrutineering... Damian now has 10 weeks to get it sorted, rather than one afternoon!
Oh, and stay tuned for some exciting Team Booger Mobile announcements!!
