Ben lays down the ground rules to the signing tent volunteers...
The best part of the day - a procession of people hand writing and stamping tickets - 100 per band - 26 bands... a total of 2600 tickets to be written out!!
What happened next hasn't been captured on camera by Damian - there was literally a stampede involving hundreds of excited young - and not-so-young - Soundwavers, all lining up for tickets - All Time Low were the crowd favourite, and sold out in around 10 mins!!
Once things had calmed down a bit, the bands started to come through the tent. This was the first band - the crowd were still lined up outside...
One band member looked nonchalant, one posed, one checked his phone and the others looked around... Great photo Damo!!
The colourful crowd wandering past the signing tent... there were some interesting sights throughout the day, including one dude being chased by a security guard, who almost caught him then the dude put on a burst of speed and disappeared up the hill and into the crowd... The boys never did find out whether he was caught!!
How!! This brave brave and his squaw decided they would like to make a guest appearance on the blog, so here they are!!
A little later, the boys were moved to the back corner of the room, as there were a couple of sessions with all four signing tables required, and the fifth one (the ticket selling table) also!!
There were plenty of interesting hairstyles, like this one, which must have taken hours to prepare!!
This was the crowd lined up for some of the hugely popular bands...
Damian and Ben had their traditional self-portrait, however Ben was a little sleepy, so took the opportunity to have a quick nap!!
The girl in the singlet on the left of the pic asked if she could have a pic with the band, so Damian obliged!! He's pretty sure this isn't what she meant though!!
This young lady and her friends missed out on tickets to meet Bring Me The Horizon, so they were standing staring through the window waiting for photos... Someone had drawn a moustache on the window...
Damian asked Oli from BMTH to go to the window as a treat for the fans who missed out on tickets...
Happy girls!!
That young man has a whole lot of tattoos!!
Linkin Park had a meet and greet in the area just behind the signing desks - Damian was tall enough to see over the barrier...
hehe... Sometimes it's good to be tall!!
Damian with his fan club... or something like that.
The very colourful arms of the members of Bring Me The Horizon.
This very happy chick was celebrating the replacement Australia Day in style!! With a onesie!!
Duff McKagan and his band dropped by the signing tent in the last session...
Not content to be stuck behind the desk, they went out into the crowd, much to the excitement and happiness of the ticketholders!!
Duff repping Camp Quality...
Damian gets in on the act!!
With the obligatory self portrait with Jo, aka Mrs Soundwave, Damian's day and night in the signing tent was complete!!
There was just enough time for Damian to go and watch a couple of acts... Blink 182...
Out of a lot of pictures, there were a few decent ones...
Some closeups...
Not bad given this is how far from the stage Damian was!!
See?
The finale of Blink 182 - the stage exploded with confetti!!
This shot is included purely for the nice star pattern the light made!!
Time to move to the right, where the final act was to be performing...
The Offspring!!
They rocked!!
Lots of lights and thumping tunes...
Good zoom on Damian's camera!!
Jagged a few good shots...
Yes, yes, everyone gets the idea...
Artistic!!
Whoa... the sign changed colour!!
After Offspring finished, it was time to head back through the crowd to find Jason, who had gone to see Metallica instead...
Damian arrived to hear the final few bars of the final Metallica song...
Then it was time to head home, followed by a sea of people!!
So another Soundwave is done and dusted... Damian's knees hated him by the end of the day, and his ears still ring a little, but it was another awesome round of fundraising.
Thanks of course to Jo, Ben and the rest of the Soundwave crew for having Team Booger Mobile along again!!
And the total raised? Well, the unofficial total is...
$2891.35
This includes ticket sales and donations (generally people either saying keep the change, emptying their shrapnel into the tin, or in some cases, simply handing over a note for a donation!!)
