esCarpade 2014 Day 8 - Heading Home from Albury

Day 8 - the long drive home...  After a week of fun and games, it was time to head back to reality.

But first, breakfast at Rydges!!

On the road heading north...

Damian driving first, Angus having a snooze...

Hilarious...

1-TON - the first esCarpade vehicle to overtake Booger Mobile...

Followed by 1047...

First roadworks for the trip home...

And a slow moving tractor... on a highway in the 110km/hr zone no less!!

MW3 heading past...

Deja vu... MW3 heading past... AGAIN!!

Car 10...

Ignoring the inaccurate speedo (changing the motor, transmission and diff will do that) - the odometer wound over the clock...

Car 12 was next to whizz by...

Car 99 aka Doris the Bombodore...

Car 181 whizzed by, but Damian's camera decided it didn't want to work...

Driver swap... Angus behind the wheel...

Damian resting in the passenger seat...

Not sure who was in this car, but they were clearly on or around esCarpade, given the 1100 stickers on the back of it!!

Defence Force Memorial Plantation...

Arrrrrrgh!!  Traffic!!

Regular blog readers will remember Mount White from 2012 when Damian and Jason had water in the fuel issues...

Angus having another snooze... thankfully in the passenger seat!!

Damian still thinks he's hilarious!!

Driver swap...

While Damian gets a bit of shut-eye...

Booger Angel watching over the boys...

Uh oh... someone's been a bad boy!!

Another site of infamy... again from 2012... this one the site of Sharkmobile vs Land Rover...

Night fell...

Stopping in Macksville for some dinner... less than 500km to go!!

Tunnel!!

Spooky tunnel!!

Crossing the Gateway Bridge... so close to home the boys could almost taste it!!

Dropping Angus home...

And Damian home, safe and sound.

Booger Mobile went alright on the way home, apart from a few fuel related hiccups...  At one point it seemed that the boys were going to have to stop and do some maintenance on the carby or something (empty the water out probably), but Booger Mobile kicked on.  Several tanks of fuel later, it was all going fantastically well, until pretty close to home...

There will be plenty of maintenance coming out of this trip - the undercarriage and suspension will all be gone over with a fine-toothed comb, followed by some additional bracing (probably between the strut towers), and some significant changes to the fuel delivery system (better filtration, additional pump, return line) which will hopefully negate the issues with picking up crap fuel.

Either way, the boys are excited for 2015 - an event that promises to be a lot closer to home!!

Stay tuned...  but probably after Damian calms down a bit and lets Booger Mobile have a well earned rest!!  Poor old thing...  (Booger Mobile, not Damian!!)
