esCarpade 2012 Day 4 - Rest Day

Day 4 is the rest day - a day to rest, recover, wash cars, repair cars if necessary and generally have a break from the rigors of esCarpade.

Damian woke to check the Today Show, and found that the Today Show T that the esCarpadians had made was on there...  Awesome work!!

First up, time to clean Booger Mobile...  Including the engine bay!!

The wheel and engine bay cleaner decided that green was a great colour!!

Jason grabbed the foamy brush and joined the fun... turning Booger Mobile from bright green to a foamy pink colour!!

Hope that washes off!!

Oh good... it does!!

The boys headed back to the hotel to get changed to go on a school visit, and found MW1 there... you know you have mechanical issues when MW1 makes an appearance!!

Booger Mobile all shiny!!

Briefing from the puppeteers about the school visit...

Heading off to the school...  The puppeteers took the boys and all the other vehicles on a bit of a wild goose chase... two U-turns...

Mario and Luigi following...

Past this sign...

And to the WRONG SCHOOL!!

After a makeshift visit to the wrong school, spraying water and throwing some lollies, then did yet another U-turn and headed to the correct school!!

Shannon has a laugh at the absurdity of the trip there!!

The cars line up, the water pistols are loaded, and the lollies start flying!!

Jason joins in the fun...

After the school visit and some brunch, Damian took Booger Mobile back to the hotel, where Kerry from TOJO (another esCarpade entrant, and the owner of the cream coloured XM coupe from scrutineering) threw a timing light on Booger Mobile, adjusting the timing slightly and the fuel mixture.

The number of esCarpade cars at the hotel continued to grow...

Later in the afternoon, the boys headed to the McWilliams Hanwood Estate Winery for a private tour with the chief winemaker.

The large barrel looked good from the outside...

Damian posing with the statue of the original McWilliams dude...

Damian found the name of the licenced spirit merchant quite amusing, for no particular reason!!

The view from inside the barrel cellar door was pretty impressive also!!

The boys put on their safety vests...

And the group headed off to tour the factory...

These large tanks each hold over 50 THOUSAND litres of wine... there are around 120 of them!!

Inside, there were some barrels on stands...  these ones were nearing the end of their usable life, and would be sold off for $50 each... if only there was room in Booger Mobile to take some home!!

Up and over the gantry, looking into the vats...

These are used to mix the squished grapes during the juice extraction and fermentation processes...

There are quite a few of these also!!

Check out the size of this spanner!!

These barrels are in a climate controlled room that stays at a constant 16 degrees all year round!!

These huge barrels hold around 3000 litres each... Damian thought this would make an impressive port barrel!

A couple of the boys bought some wine to take home...

After the tour, it was time for dinner and a few drinks, followed by a blog post and bed.  Wednesday sees the boys driving again, so stay tuned!!
