Damian thought the first photo of the day should be of his flash new socks that were donated by Ray from the Clowns, however upon closer inspection, he found his camera lens cover hadn't fully retracted... It made for an interesting photo!!
Here's what the socks actually look like...
And on...
Time to get into Booger Mobile and head to breakfast... having missed dinner on Wednesday night (due to fixing the window mechanism), the boys were starving!!
The Wagga Wagga PCYC was the place for breaky, and they had a funky BBQ!!
The crowd gathered, and breakfast was consumed!!
Qld entrants Purple People Eater, Booger Mobile and Team Afro.
Damian getting breathalysed by the Ambos - a requirement each morning before driving.
Driver briefing...
And they're off!! Damian was driving first up as they headed through the streets of Wagga Wagga...
Past some old industrial buildings...
And another plane on sticks...
And onto the dirt...
Another day of bitumen to dirt back to bitumen to dirt was ahead... Onto bitumen...
Road getting narrower... might be dirt again soon!!
But not quite yet... Booger Mobile following Team Afro...
Past some silos...
Purple People Eater following Booger Mobile...
Onto the dirt... again!
Surprise, surprise... there's more bitumen!!
And dirt...
And bitumen...
Purple People Eater had a bit of an issue and decided to stop... Team Afro were on hand to help out, so the boys didn't need to stop and help... Later they heard that the exhaust had exploded... Wonder how? ;-)
The bitumen continued...
Winding through some pleasent hills and scenery...
Until they were back on dirt again!!
The dust hung thick in the air - there wasn't any breeze to speak of like there had been previous days...
Thankfully the dirt stages were interspersed with bitumen stages!!
Nice hills in the background...
Following a fenceline...
This road became quite windy...
Looks like fun, but comes with a sting in the tail, as some drivers found!!
969 came to grief on one of the corners...
Turn left at the fork in the tree!!
Morning fun stop...
Still looking good!!
Even relatively shiny from behind still!!
After a break and a comfort stop, along with playing some games and putting more stickers on cars, it was time to hit the road again!!
Time to turn... just because the sign says one thing, doesn't necessarily mean it's the direction we are heading!!
Back onto dirt...
This section had some interesting downhill sections, that would prove to be a trap for young players later in the day...
Nice open roads...
A bridge in the distance...
Same bridge, slightly closer!!
Just for something a little different, some more dirt!!
Beautiful scenery flew past...
All the way to another sign... would the boys take any notice of this one?
Nope!! They followed the route notes!!
Tree lined roads...
More tree lines, different road, different trees!!
And again... there's some kind of pattern here...
Stop!! Hammertime!! Or maybe it's Stop!! Collaborate and listen!!
Booger Moible at the lunch stop in Culcairn.
Cold meats and salad... yum!!
After lunch, kids from two local schools came to check out the cars...
One of the ladies from Health in a Hurry had been fundraising to shave off her hair...
Off it comes!!
And done... very brave indeed!!
Ray (from Clowns) sporting his very own Booger socks... Or is it Damian from Booger Mobile sporting his very own Clown socks?
Inside, the puppeteers fired up the crowd getting ready for the puppet show...
Puppet time!!
After the puppet show, it was time for Jason to be in the driver's seat for the afternoon session...
After a quick fuel stop, it was onto the open road... bitumen first...
Then it narrowed...
But suddenly got wider again!!
Ten 4 aka High Rollers were having another little stop on the side of the road... They didn't require assistance though!!
Cruising along...
Past more trees and scenery...
Even the mints are green!!
Finally, it was back onto dirt - doing a track that was basically the reverse direction of the route that they had followed earlier in the day...
Sheep. Insert baaaaaaaaaaaaaad joke here!!
Back onto the dirt, in a strangely familiar way!!
Remember earlier in the post that this track was pretty steep with sharp turns, and they would cause some carnage? Here's an example!!
With no assistance required from Booger Mobile, the boys kept going, slowly making their way through the field.
Nice scenery shot...
Down the road again...
And back on dirt!!
Nice, winding forestry roads...
222 were stopped having a break, not a breakdown!!
Up and over the crest... wonder where the road goes?
Ah, down and around the other way!!
These roads were a heap of fun - both to drive on and to navigate!!
Back onto tarmac for a while...
Damian was still wearing his awesome green socks...
As they rolled through...
Tumbarumba!! (Which believe it or not, has it's own hospital!!)
And a building with a wall shaped like Australia!!
Tumut... that seems like a place to go towards!!
Health in a Hurry being overtaken by someone in an even bigger hurry!!
Cows on the left... moo, moo, moo!!
Once past the cows, it was back onto the open road...
Past the recently cleared forestry section...
Where the boys met a logging truck coming the other way, which left this little gift on the front windscreen... After a week of driving on dirt and rocks, a rock thrown up from a truck on the bitumen puts a star-shaped chip in the windscreen...
Hopefully it a) lasts until the boys get home and b) is small enough to repair...
Continuing on the bitumen...
And into the afternoon fun stop...
Back on the road...
The downhill run to Tumut... literally!!
Nice winding roads...
Wonderful scenery...
Ten 4 caught back up to Booger Mobile...
It's a sign!!
More importantly, it's Tumut!!
Past the church...
Through the main street and out the other side...
Past check-in, and doubling back to the hotel.
Jason parking Booger Mobile...
Time to get into Hillbilly dress-up gear and head to the RSL for dinner!!
The dining hall was packed...
The Qld entrants dressed up well, as always!!
This hot chick was there...
The officials were thanked for their contributions to the running of the 2012 esCarpade...
The boys in their costumes...
And so concluded the second-last day of the 2012 Camp Quality esCarpade... One more day of driving remains, followed by a final night party, then the drive back to Brisbane.
Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion!!
BOOGER GREEN SOCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
ReplyDeleteOh no I don t think so lol.
Another great day for Team Booger Mobile, with so many KM traveled and on and off so many dirt roads but what great sceanery along the way.
I m not to sure on the hill billy look for Damian, Darth Vader or Mr underpants are a much better look for him, still it looks like it was a lot of fun for all .
I can t believe that it is almost to the end of the 2012 Camp Quality esCarpade it seems just like yesterday when all the cars set off on the great adventures.
Have a great day and put lots of smiles on the faces of all the children out there.
Thank you Team Booger Mobile.
