Brake lights, rubber and stuff...

Scottie has been unable to work this week due to the inclement weather, so he came down to Team Booger Mobile headquarters for a special Friday session of working on Booger Mobile.

Scottie arrived while Damian was out meeting with a secret sponsor to discuss progress and what else was needed, then off to a meeting at Camp Quality HQ regarding his Vodafone World of Difference application and shortlisting...

When Damian arrived home, Scottie was very happy to show off the brake lights that had been installed...

Well, the switch that controlled the brake lights had been installed, using Damian's idea and Scottie's talent!

Scottie had also removed the gearbox cross-member and welded on the hand brake bits and pieces as required...

Damian's first task was to apply the newly provided CMK Financial Solutions sticker to Booger Mobile...

Meanwhile, Scottie was removing the rear wheel cylinders to take them to Repco to see if replacement parts were available...

Also arriving in the post today was the rubber seal kit that the boys had purchased via eBay.

After spending a large amount of time at Repco looking at various different wheel cylinders (and trying to convince the bloke behind the counter to continue bringing them out!!), the boys finally found ones that would be suitable!! (They don't make ones that are specific to the XM-XP Ute Diff any longer - these ones are from an XY!) Even better, they had a pair in stock!!

Damian installed the bonnet rubbers (to stop the bonnet from rattling while driving around), and the bonnet skirting rubber (not shown).

Meanwhile, Scottie was reconstructing the rear brakes using a combination of two pictures in the manual (some parts match one picture, and some parts match the other picture).

Then, it was back on with the wheel!!

The passenger side rear wheel was done, then it was the front wheels turn to be up on jack stands...

Damian was up underneath the dash reinstalling the heater - once that is done, he will be able to install the glove box etc.

Scottie rejiggered the front brake hoses after replacing them with shiny new ones, to ensure sufficient clearance when the wheels are turned full-lock in either direction...

Scottie wanted to see what Booger Mobile looked like in the dark with the lights (and reverse lights) on, and the left indicator going...

It was then time for the boys to bleed the brakes... Open up the master cylinder...

Then in with the brake fluid! Note how the fluid is green... it came from a black plastic bottle, so it must have just been fate!!

And there ended the day's happiness... upon attempting to bleed the brakes, numerous small leaks were detected... time to return to the drawing board and recheck all the connections etc...

Sounds like a good job for another day!!
