Transmission Linkage Issue

Damian had a couple of tasks to attend to this evening.  First of all, he had to deliver the engine crane back to Dave from Wadnot Joinery so that he could get the engine back into his racing Ford Cortina (sorry folks, Damian forgot to take the camera with him).

Secondly, Damian discovered that with all the moving and shaking, the transmission linkage had popped off.  Since he had come across this before, he knew just what to do!!

Step 1 - remove the top cover so that the position of the gear shift can be clearly seen.

Step 2 - locate the popped off linkage - up behind the speedo cable!!

Step 3 - Remove the nut from the busted linkage, freeing up the press-fit section, press it back into the correct position on the gear-shift, then line up the transmission linkage.

Step 4 - tighten up the nut!!

Through the magic of the interwebs, this seems remarkably easy...  Of course, it would have been much easier had Damian had someone in the car holding the gear shift, rather than him having to get up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down and so on and on and on and you get the drift... it was a painful exercise!!

Still, the transmission linkage is fixed, and Damian is ready for his brother Jason to rock around on Tuesday night to get the head on the engine and (hopefully) the engine started!!

Stay tuned!!
