Brisbane Convoy for Kids

After sitting at Team Booger Mobile HQ in the shed for a week, it was time to dust off Booger Mobile to be invited guest at the Brisbane Convoy for Kids truck convoy.

Cleaning, cleaning...

There was mud EVERYWHERE!!  And the rest of the car was covered in a fine film of red mud...

See the colour difference?

As per usual, Damian had his two helpers, and Tricia was snapping pics...

Got to ensure all sponsor stickers get a look in!!

Starting to look clean now!!

More cleaning...

And more...

And still more!!

Time for a hose off...  some of the water even went onto the car!!

Damian arrived before any other Camp Quality representatives and parked near the portable gazebo.

Time for more piccies!!

Booger's LED lights were flashing - sometimes it was overcast enough to see them, sometimes not!

The road directly in front is where the truck convoy will enter from!!

The crowd started to gather as the utes heralded the arrival of the truck convoy...

More utes...

And finally, the first truck through the gates!  The generous owner of this rig donated an incredible THIRTY-ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS to lead the truck convoy!!

There were some spectacular rigs...

Some interesting rigs...

Some highly customised and airbrushed...

And Tony in car 808!!

Damian had moved Booger Mobile out a little so the trucks had a clearer view - Tony parked beside Booger Mobile hoping some of the shine would rub off on his!!

Finally after over 300 trucks had passed through, the convoy had finished!!

Booger Mobile and car 808 looked a little lonely then...

Not to worry, the booze bus would keep them company!!

The stage was set...  later in the evening there would be bands and partying, but Damian wouldn't be there for that!

This ute was quite spectacular, but was clearly tired, sitting on the grass...

The trucks made a magnificent sight, and throughout the day the crowd trickled in.

Damian had to head off by mid afternoon, having flown the Camp Quality flag with Booger Mobile.  Just for something different, he didn't see himself on the news that night!!

Raffle Prize Delivery

Now that the boys were back from esCarpade, the only thing left to do for 2010 was to deliver the raffle prizes.

The second prize winner Peter wasn't home, but his mother graciously accepted the prize on his behalf!!

The first prize winner, John, was delighted with his prize, and commented that it was so big, the house might fall down because the weight would be uneven!!

The third prize was won by a lady who works with Scottie's wife Katie, so Damian dropped the prize off to Katie for her to deliver on Monday.

2010 is now done and dusted... there will be some updates as interesting things happen, and they will ramp up considerably as the boys approach 2011.

Thanks to everyone who supported Team Booger Mobile, read the blog, left comments or just got a smile from the boys efforts!!

Day 8 - Goondiwindi to Warialda... err... or home!

The final day of esCarpade arrived - a snappy couple of hundred kilometre journey south to Warialda.  Since the boys were stuck on bitumen with Booger Mobile, and there were several other teams going straight home from Goondiwindi, the boys decided that Goondiwindi would be their final destination for 2010.

It made very little sense to them to drive 200km down the bitumen, only to turn around and drive back again!!

Booger Mobile parked at Goondiwindi as the boys headed to breakfast...

These cars seemed to be tired - they were all sitting on the grass near the gutter!!

The boys said their good byes at the breakfast venue, and also waited at the checkout point to say good bye to the others as they rolled out!

Damian noticed the spelling mistake in this otherwise spectacular sticker!!

One of the Gympie teams were on the OKA trailer having some work done - hopefully it could be fixed enough that they could drive home!!

The boys fueled up and headed up the highway - you know you are in the bush when you pass machinery such as this on the road!!

Lots of long, straight roads...

Suddenly, the boys passed a teepee... had they made it all the way to North America???

Up the range and into Toowoomba they went...

Stopping at the servo to fuel up and check the fluid levels...

Booger spent the time watching traffic go past!!

Follow the signposts - they can't possibly steer the boys wrong!!

Very steep descent ahead... or as the boys like to say - stunt car landing ramp ahead!!

Do you think there's a steep descent ahead?  It's hard to tell from all the signage...

Down, down down...

Past the big red elephant...

Past spectacular views across the valley...

Head north young men!!

What's that spec in the distance???

It looks green...

It's the boys!!  They've made it home safely!!!

Lights and horns blaring...

Damian's boys were so excited...

Reversing back down to the shed...

And Booger Mobile is back where it belongs, safe and warm!!

The boys travelled a total distance of 3325km, using 611 litres of fuel.

They raised a grand total of $6380.50.
